Founder, Polar Counsel

I partner with organizations confronting complexity at the intersection of global strategy, governance, and law. Drawing on senior leadership experience across international institutions, governments, and multinational corporations, I provide counsel grounded in practical judgment and deep expertise.

Experience Across Sectors and Borders

My career spans the public and private sectors across international institutions, governments, and industry. As General Counsel at NATO and in senior roles at Cleary Gottlieb, Shearman & Sterling, Canada's Foreign Affairs, and Dassault Systèmes, I have guided organizations through high-stakes legal transactions, complex regulatory environments, and periods of significant transformation. My practice spans antitrust and trade law, international trade litigation, trade agreements for market access, and antitrust review of complex cross-border mergers. I also advise on cybersecurity governance and the emerging intersection of law and artificial intelligence.

I serve on the Board Ethics and Governance Committee of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, at the intersection of international development, public health, and philanthropy.

My work has taken me across Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America — providing firsthand understanding of diverse regulatory frameworks, cultural contexts, and stakeholder expectations. I advise on geographic expansions, market entry strategies, high-value technology transactions, cross-border regulatory approvals, national security reviews, and stakeholder engagement where political sensitivities and cultural differences shape outcomes.

Guiding Principles

Effective counsel requires more than technical mastery. It demands the discipline to ground decisions in evidence, the courage to ask difficult questions, and the judgment to balance competing interests in service of sustainable outcomes. I work with leaders and boards to navigate complexity with confidence — integrating strategic foresight with practical assessments of risk and opportunity.
